Hey y’all,
So, I’ve been quiet over the past few weeks… I’ve been going through some personal stuff and I’ve also been taking some much needed unplugged time. I’ve also been working on something new that I can’t tell you about yet. It’s a bit of a different direction from this blog but don’t worry this will still be my main focus
.
I’ve kinda been taking a little break from this blog and also from social media which I think has done me the world of good. I haven’t completely ignored it but I’ve just spent waay less time especially on Twitter.
…You see, I think I’d started living my life around Twitter …so I’d try and get a good photo especially to tweet, or I’d be in the middle of a fun time with my friends and I’d be thinking ‘I need to tweet this’ (how sad!?) !!
And really, I don’t want to live my live that way, I want to share things on Twitter but I don’t want to be constantly thinking of my next hilarious tweet (!).
At first I felt really really guilty and like I was missing out, but then I started to realise that if I carried on spending as much time on social media then it was REAL LIFE that I’d be missing out on. And I sure as hell don’t want to do that!
I’m also working on not feeling so guilty about taking some time off. As entrepreneurs (especially women entrepreneurs) who work from home we often feel pressure to keep going even when we really need a break, and honestly, that’s just stupid!
We keep going until we feel completely overwhelmed and we’re never going to be particularly productive if we have a million things on our mind.

So this is just a reminder to not be afraid to take a break once in a while, it’ll make you feel heaps better and you’ll be all the more productive for it.
As for me.. I’ve had my break and I’m coming back with a vengeance!!!
With passion,
Louise

Louise!
This an excellent post on a raherly unspoken of truth! I too work too long and often times dont take a break until my body makes me!
I have begun to set hours of working. When the office its closed I try my hardest not to work. It is a very difficult thing to do, especially as an entrepreneur. But, I am making the effort!
You’re right Miji, it is a difficult thing to do and it’s not good for our body’s or our mind’s to keep going when we’re desperate for a break. Keep making the effort and I will too! Thanks so much for commenting
Louise,
Love your blog post, and it came at just the right time when I was thinking what you were thinking. Last week I honestly didn’t have time for social media and started to think I was going to loose everyone, but burning the candle at both ends, I’m just exhausted and needed a break. I was thinking to take a complete week off of everything just to get myself organized and on a schedule so life wouldn’t be so hectic. So thanks for “it’s ok” and a “good thing” reminder to take a break and relax…your body will thank you.
With gratitude!

Louise, I enjoyed this post! I couldn’t agree more. I think taking time away is part of the work, and if you’re not giving yourself some down time, you’re “shirking.”
To be most effective and satisfied with our lives, we need to be clear about what we’re doing. It feels great to take a step back once in a while and put all your goings-on in perspective.
Louise I feel your pain. I too am struggling to take a break and not have the constant nagging of my mind telling me “I’m missing something” Its hard for guy’s too. Nice post and keep on keepin on.
Hey Craig, thanks for commenting. It’s so hard to not feel like you’re missing out on something isn’t it? But you’ve just got to remember that every one else isn’t there (e.g on Twitter) 24 hours a day either. I agree, I think it’s hard for everybody and certainly not just a problem women have.
I feel what you’re saying. I find it difficult to take breaks myself, because I don’t want to get bored. I don’t really have a whole lot of obligations to anyone, so I have a lot more time to spend on social media than say a professional in their late 30s with a spouse and two young kids. However, I do find that if I pursue things that spark my interest outside of internet communications, I am able to disengage from it for a short while.
